Investment in Therapy

Therapy that goes deeper— and stays focused on you.

Therapy Payment Options

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable enough — the logistics shouldn’t add more stress. Here’s how payment works in my practice. If you’re unsure what option makes the most sense for you, we can talk it through during your consultation.

Self-Pay

Self-pay means you pay for therapy directly at the time of service rather than using health insurance. Insurance is not billed, and no claims are submitted on your behalf.

Payment can be made by card, and I also accept HSA and FSA cards.

Out-Of-Network

Out-of-network (OON) therapy means I am not contracted with your insurance company. You pay for sessions directly, and if your plan includes OON benefits, you may receive partial reimbursement.

More details about how this works are outlined below.

Using Insurance: Important Things to Know

If you’re accustomed to using insurance for healthcare, it’s helpful to understand how that model shapes therapy.

  • Insurance providers require a mental health diagnosis to authorize and reimburse treatment. They also determine what is considered “medically necessary,” which can influence the length, frequency, and focus of care.

  • Our work remains private, individualized, and guided by clinical judgment — not external limitations. This allows us to focus on meaningful, depth-oriented change rather than meeting predetermined criteria.

Therapy Fees

I intentionally maintain a smaller caseload so I can offer depth, presence, and thoughtful care to every client I work with. When you sit down in session, you have my full attention — not the leftover energy from an overbooked day. There is meaningful work that happens beyond the therapy hour — reflection, integration, careful consideration of patterns and progress. Full-fee care allows me to invest that time into your growth.

It also gives us freedom. We are not constrained by what an insurance company defines as “medically necessary.” Instead, we focus on what is personally transformative — the kind of change that reshapes how you move through your relationships, your work, and your everyday life.

Using Out-of-Network Benefits

To use out-of-network benefits:

  1. Confirm your benefits (I can help with this during your consultation through Thrizer).

  2. Pay for sessions directly.

  3. Submit a superbill to your insurance company for reimbursement — or use Thrizer to simplify the process.

If you’re unsure what your plan covers, I recommend asking:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?

  • What percentage is reimbursed?

  • Is there a deductible?

  • Are there session limits?

I’m happy to guide you through this process so it feels clear and manageable.

You can also use Thrizer to check your out-of-network benefits and simplify the reimbursement process.

Thrizer is a secure payment platform that helps therapy clients estimate their out-of-network benefits and submit claims more easily. You’re welcome to check your benefits using the link below, or we can review them together during your consultation. I’m also happy to check your out-of-network benefits for you if that feels easier.

Common questions about therapy fees:

  • I do not offer ongoing sliding scale spots. In rare circumstances, I may consider adjusted fees at my discretion.

  • The length of therapy depends on your goals and the depth of work you’re seeking. Some clients engage in focused, shorter-term work, while others choose longer-term therapy to support sustained growth. We will regularly assess what feels aligned and intentional for you.

  • I offer weekly therapy sessions and recommend consistent weekly work to support meaningful progress toward your goals.

  • If your insurance plan includes out-of-network coverage, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement. I provide monthly superbills and can help you navigate the process.

  • Your session time is reserved exclusively for you. If you need to cancel, you may reschedule within a three-week window — the week before, the same week, or the week after — if scheduling allows. Sessions that are not rescheduled within that window are charged at the full session fee. One complimentary cancellation is provided per calendar year.
