Frequently asked questions about therapy

Got questions? I’ve got answers.

  • My office is located at:
    9205 W Center St, Suite 200A
    Milwaukee, WI 53222

I’m in the Tosa area, on the corner of Swan Boulevard and Center Street — right above Miss Molly’s Café.

There is a parking lot behind the building, as well as plenty of free street parking nearby.

I also offer online therapy for clients located in Wisconsin and Colorado.

  • During your free 15-minute virtual consultation, we’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and what you hope will feel different. Whether you're seeking parenting therapy, anxiety support, or help navigating perimenopause, this is a space to share what’s going on and ask questions.

We’ll also decide together if we feel like a good fit. There’s no pressure — just a warm first step.

  • Your first session is 60 minutes and focused on getting oriented. We’ll explore what’s bringing you in, clarify your goals, and begin identifying patterns or themes.

You don’t need to prepare anything. Just come as you are.

  • Most clients begin with weekly 50- or 60-minute therapy sessions. This helps us build momentum, set clear goals, and begin meaningful work. We typically continue weekly sessions while we work together.

I tend to work with clients long term. Therapy with me is a relationship we build over time — creating deep, lasting change, adding practical strategies to your everyday life, increasing your understanding of yourself, and helping you live more authentically.

We’ll regularly check in about what’s working and what you need.

  • There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline.

Some clients come for focused support around a specific issue. Many of my clients choose longer-term therapy to deepen self-understanding, strengthen relationships, manage anxiety, or navigate life transitions.

We’ll revisit your goals regularly to make sure therapy continues to feel purposeful and aligned.

  • No. Art-making is always your choice.

You might create during session, between sessions, or not at all. Some clients prefer other forms of creativity — like music, writing, gardening, woodworking, or movement. Therapy with me is collaborative, and we’ll use whatever tools feel most helpful to you.

As a trained art therapist, I naturally think in a visual way. I often help clients see patterns and connections they haven’t noticed before. We can use the creative process in many ways — sometimes through art-making, and sometimes simply through a different perspective that helps things click.

  • I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can connect and see if working together feels like a good fit.

    My therapy rates are:

    • Initial Session (60 minutes): $300

    • 50-minute session: $285

    • 60-minute session: $300

Payment is due at the time of service. I’m happy to discuss any questions about fees or out-of-network reimbursement during your consultation so you feel fully informed before beginning.

Therapy is an investment in long-term growth, clarity, and meaningful change. I approach our work with depth and intention, so the time and energy you put into therapy truly supports the life you want to live.

  • I see clients Tuesday through Thursday.

    I offer:

    • In-person therapy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

    • Online therapy for clients located in Wisconsin and Colorado

Weekly sessions can be scheduled at the same time each week or adjusted based on availability.

  • I am an out-of-network therapist and do not accept insurance.

There are several reasons for this — and they’re rooted in protecting your privacy and the integrity of your care.

    When using insurance:

    • A mental health diagnosis must be submitted to your insurance company

    • Insurance companies can limit the number or length of sessions — even if more support is clinically appropriate

    • Some types of therapy or creative approaches may not be covered

    • Insurance companies determine reimbursement rates, which may not reflect the full value of specialized care

    • Claims can be reviewed or “clawed back” later

Working outside of insurance allows us to focus fully on what you need — not what a third party decides is medically necessary.

That said, I do provide superbills (detailed receipts) that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. I can also help you check your out-of-network benefits so you know what to expect.

  • Yes. I provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I can also submit claims on your behalf through a service called Thrizer, which simplifies the reimbursement process.

After your consultation, I can help look up your out-of-network mental health benefits and estimated reimbursement rates. I also recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to confirm your benefits and understand what percentage of sessions may be reimbursed.

I’m happy to guide you through this process so you feel clear and supported. I also accept HSA and FSA cards for payment.

  • Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected cost of services before beginning therapy.

You can review more details using the Good Faith Estimate link in the footer of this website. If you’d like a personalized estimate, I’m happy to provide one before we begin.
