About Amanda Metropolus, LPC, ATR, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Hi, I’m Amanda Metropolus — a Licensed Professional Counselor and registered art therapist based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the founder of Fresh Therapy, LLC. I specialize in anxiety therapy, including parenting therapy, postpartum anxiety treatment, and therapy for women navigating some of life’s most demanding seasons.

Whether you’re dealing with daily stress, spiraling thoughts, or the overwhelm of motherhood, I offer a calm, creative, and non-judgmental space to help you breathe easier again.

As a mom myself, I deeply understand the unique challenges that come with parenting, identity shifts, and the pressure to “hold it all together.” My work as a mom therapist is rooted in compassion and real-life experience. I support women facing mild to severe daily anxiety, depression, and the emotional ups and downs of raising children — with a focus on sustainable healing and self-compassion.

I blend traditional anxiety counseling with art therapy techniques, mindfulness, and evidence-based practices to help you reconnect with your inner clarity and confidence. If you’re seeking guidance from a specialized anxiety therapist, I’m here to walk beside you — not push you — as you move toward more ease and empowerment.

If you’re ready for personalized, down-to-earth support from someone who gets what you’re going through, let’s talk. You don’t have to figure this all out alone.

Therapy Methods:

  • Art Therapy

  • Mindfulness

  • Body Awareness

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

 Anxiety Therapy FAQs

  • We will begin exactly where you are at now, breaking down the panic or anxiety that you are feeling. I will share some helpful insight about how anxiety impacts our body and our brain. We will work together to understand how anxiety is impacting you. Next, I will introduce tangible skills you can use to help yourself through it. Then you will practice in-between sessions. The following session, will will take a look at how those tools worked.

  • You are very aware that what you are doing is not working. Anxiety impacts your daily life causing you to feel overwhelmed, confused and exhausted. As your anxiety therapist, I give you space to slow down, visually see what is actually happening, and learn what to do to work through anxiety when it is knocking on the door.

  • Although I do not prescribe medication for anxiety, I can work with you to decide if medication is an option you’d like to try or that would be helpful to you. I can refer you to your PCP or another medical professional to develop a plan that will work along side therapy.

  • Schedule a free 15 minute consultation with me by clicking the link below. During this time I will ask you what is bringing you to therapy (specifically for anxiety), what you would like to see changed when you are done with therapy, talk about logistics such as scheduling and answer any questions that you have about therapy, myself or the treatment process. If we agree we are a good fit, we will schedule your first therapy session.

  • There is a small parking lot in the back, otherwise street parking free of charge. Nearby street parking is pretty easy to find. We’re located above Miss Molly’s coffee and pastry shop, a popular local landmark.

  • Yes! I’m licensed to work with patients throughout the state of Wisconsin. If you’re not close enough to visit in-person, or even if you prefer therapy in the comfort of your own home, we’ll do your therapy sessions via telehealth.
